How does binary fission differ from multiple fission?

In binary fission, the parent organism splits (or divides) to form two new organisms. On the other hand, in multiple fission the parent organism splits (or divides) to form many new organisms simultaneouly. Amoeba reproduces by the process of binary fission whereas the malarial parasite Plasmodium reproduces by the process of multiple fission.
