An organic compoud A having the molecualr formufla `C_(3)H_(8)O` is a liquid at room temperature .The organic liquid A reacts with sodium metal to evolve a gas which burns causing a little explosion .When the organic liquid A is heated with concentrated suphuyric acid at `170^(@)C` it forms a compound B which decolourises bromine water. The compound B adds on one molecule of hydrogen in the presence of Ni as catayst to from compound C which gives substitution rections with chlorine.
(a) what is compound A?
(b) what is compound B?
(c ) What type of reaction occurs when A is converted in to B?
(d) What is compound C?
(e ) What type of rection takes place when B is converted in to C?

Which of the following organic liquid mixes freely with water ?

When ethanol is heated at 170^(@)C with conc. H_(2)SO_(4) , it forms an organic compound 'A' and water. The compound 'A' reacts with hydrogen in the presence of nickel to form 'B'. i. Name the compounds A and B. Write the chemical equations of the reactions involved.

An organic compound A on heating with concentrated H_(2)SO_(4) forms a compound B which on addition of one mole of hydrogen in presence of Ni forms a compounds C. One mole od compound C on combustion form two moles of CO_(2) and three moles of H_(2)O . Identify the compounds A,B and C write the chemical equation of the reactions involved.
