An automobile vehicle has a mass of 1500 kg. What must be the force between the vehicle and road if the vehicle is to be stopped with a negative acceleration of 1.7 m`s^(2)`?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, Mass of vehicle, m=1500 kg
And, Acceleration,a =-1.7 `ms^(2)`
Now, Force,F=m`xx`a
`F=1500xx(-1.7)N`
`F=-2550N`
Thus, the force between the vehicles and the road is 2550 newtons. The negative sign of force shows that the force acts in a direction opposite to the direction of motion of the vehicle.
