An object of mass `100kg` is accelerated uniformly from a velocity of `5m//s` to `8m//s` in `6 s`. Calculate the initial and final momentum of the object. Also, find the magnitude of the force exerted on the object.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Initial momentum = mass `xx` initial velocity
`=100xx5`
`=500kgms^(-1)`….(i)
(ii) Final momentum = mass `xx` final velocity
`=100xx8`
`=800kgms^(-1)` ….(ii)
(iii) Force=`("Change in momentum")/("Time taken")`
`=(800-500)/6`
`=300/6`
=50 N
