A vesel has 6 of oxygen at pressure at pressure P and temperature 400 K.A small hole is made in it so that oxygen leaks out. How much oxygen leaks out if the final pressure is `(P)/(2)` and temperauture 300 K ?

A

5 g

B

4 g

C

2 g

D

3 g

The correct Answer is:
C

`PV=m/MRT` (for m grams of gas)
`P'V(m')/(M)RT'`
Dividing equation (ii) by (i) we get
`(P')/(P)(m')/(m)(T')/(T)`
`m'=(P')/(P)xxT/(T')xxm=((P//2)/(P))xx400/300xx6=4g`
`therefore` Mass of oxygen leaked, `Deltam=m-m'=6-4=2 g`
