Figure given shows a sinusoidal wave on ...

Figure given shows a sinusoidal wave on a string. If the frequency of the wave is 150 Hz, what is the velocity and wavelength of the given wave?

A

`0.04 m,10ms^(-1)`

B

`0.06m,12ms^(-1)`

C

`0.08 m,10ms^(-1)`

D

`0.08 m,12ms^(-1)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
D

Given : Frequency of the wave, `upsilon` = 150 Hz

From the fig ure,`5/2lamda=20cm`
`therefore` Wavelength of the wave,
`lamda=40/5cm=8 cm=8xx10^(-2)m=0.08m`
Velocity of the wave,
`v=upsilonlamda=(150s^(-1))(8xx10^(-2)m)=12ms^(-1)`
