Assertion : The interference of two iden...

Assertion : The interference of two identical waves moving in same direction produces standing waves.
Reason : Various elements of standing waves do not remain in constant phase.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
B

In a stationary wave, total energy associated with it is twice the energy of each of incident and reflected wave. Large amount of energy are stored equally in standing waves and became trapped with the waves. Hence there is no transmission of energy through the waves.
