Assertion: The fundamental frequency of ...

Assertion: The fundamental frequency of an open organ pipe increases as the temperature is increased.
Reason: As the temperature increases, the velocity of sound increases more rapidly than length of the pipe.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
A

For an open organ pipe fundamental frequency is expressed as `upsilon=v/(2l)` where v is the velocity of wave and l is the length of organ pipe. Since the velocity increases rapidly with the increase of temperature in comparison with the increase in its length. Therefore, it is clear that the frequency increases with the increase of temperature.
