A coin is tossed 100 times and head appears 46 times. Now if we toss a coin at random, what is probability of getting (i) a head (ii) a tail.

Text Solution

Total number of trials = 100
`because` Number of heads = 46
`therefore` Number of tails = `100-46=54.`
(i) Let `E_(1)` = event of getting a head. Then,
`P(E_(1))=P"(getting a head)"=("number of heads")/("total number of trials")=(46)/(100)=(23)/(50)`
(ii) Let `E_(2)` = event of getting a tail. Then,
`P(E_(2))=P"(getting a tail)"=("number of tails")/("total number of trials")=(54)/(100)=(27)/(50)`
