Write a short note on the distribution of water on earth.

Explanation

1) Out of all the water on earth, salt water in oceans, seas and saline ground water make up about 97% of it.
2) Only 2.5-2.75% is fresh water.
3) 1.75-2% of this is frozen in glaciers, ice and snow.
4) 0.7-0.8% of water is present as fresh ground water and soil moisture.
5) Less than 0.01% of water is present as surface water in lakes, swamps and rivers.
6) Through this fresh water is a meagre portion of the whole, if used judiciously, shall last for a long time.
