The major product obtained when `Br_2"/"Fe` is treated with

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
A

Electrophilic substitution involves the attack of an electrophile at electron rich position which are generally `o-` and `p-`. We know electrophilic substitution takes place at electron rich position. The ring attached with `-NH` will haver high electron density due to resonance. As ortho position is blocked, the electrophile attacks the para position.
