Consider the reaction
`MgO+iffMg+CO`

A

The forward reaction is not possible as magnesium has more affinity for oxygen.

B

The forward reaction is possible at a temperature of above `2000^(@)`C

C

The forward reaction is possible at `2000^(@)`C if the products of reaction are cooled rapidly.

D

none of these

Verified by Experts

Magnesium is prepared on large scale by the reaction.
`MgO+Coverset(2000^(@)C)iffMg+CO`
At `2000^(@)C` ,both products of the forward reaction are gaseous and would naturally recombine, but if the products are cooled rapidly, magnesium vapour is frozen out and forward reaction goes to completion.
