A neutral atom has 2K electrons, 8L electrons and 6M electrons. Predict from this:
(a). Its atomic number, (b() total number of s-electrons,
(c). Total number of p-electrons, (d) total number of d-electrons.

Text Solution

(a) Atomic number (Z) of atom = Total no. of electrons present =2+8+6=16.
Electronic configuration : `1s^(2) 2s^(2) 2p^(6) 3s^(2) 3p^(4)`
(b) Total no. of s-electrons = 2+ 2+2=6
(c) Total no. of p-electrons =6+4=10
(d) Total no. of d-electrons =0
