1 litres of oxygen is allowed to react with three litres of carbon monoxide at N.T.P. Calculate the volume of each gas found after the reaction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
1 L, 2L

The reaction takes place according to the equation :
`underset(2L)(2CO)+underset(1L)(O_(2))rarrunderset(2L)(2CO_(2))`
1L of `O_(2)` reacts with CO = 2L
`:.` Volume of CO left unreacted `= 3-2 = 1L`
Volume of `CO_(2)` formed = 2L.
