Boron is unable to form `BF_(6)^(3-)`– ion. Explain.

The electronic configuration of boron (Z=5) `1s^(2)2s^(2)2p_(x)^(1)`. It can show a maximum covalency of four in its compounds since no d-orbtials are available in the valence shell. In case of boron. `BF_(6)^(3-)` ion can not be formed.
