The coagulation valus of the electrolyte...

The coagulation valus of the electrolytes `AlCl_(3)` and NaCl for `As_(2)S_(3)` sol are 0.093 and 52 respectively. How many times has `AlCl_(3)` greater coagulating power than NaCl ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

It may be noted that the coagulating powers of the electrolytes are inversely proportionsl to their coagulating value. Thus, `("coagulating power of" AlCl_(3))/("Coagulating power of NaCl")=(52)/(0.093)=559`
Thus, coagulating power of `AlCl_(3)` is 559 times more than that of NaCl.
