Why helium and neon do not form compound...

Why helium and neon do not form compounds with florine?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The electronic configuration of helium (Z=2) is `1 s^(2)`. Since no vacant or half filled orbital can be created, helium cannot be made to take part in chemical combination. As a result, no distinct chemical compounds of helium are known.
