Two rails are represented by the equations `x+2y-4=0\ a n d\ 2x+4y-12=0.`Represent this situation geometrically.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

equation 1 is `x+2y-4=0`
`2y= 4-x`
`y=(40-x)/2`
when x=0,`y=4/2=2`
when x=4,`y= (4-4)/2=0`
now equation2 is` 2x+4y-12=0`
`y=(12-2x)/4`
when x=6`y= (12-6*6)/4=0`
