The height of a transmission antenna is ...

The height of a transmission antenna is 49m and that of the receiving antenna is 64m. What should be the maximum distance between them for line of sight transmission ?

A

50.1km

B

53.6 km

C

43.6 km

D

65.2 km

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

`d_("max") = sqrt(2r h_(T)) + sqrt(2rh_(r))`
`h_(T) = 49 m, h_(T) = 64m`,
r = 6400 km
So, maximum distance (in km) is
`:. d_("max") = sqrt2 xx sqrt(6400) (sqrt((49)/(1000)) + sqrt((64)/(1000)))`
=53.6 km
