A scooter starts from rest have an acceleration of `1 ms^(-2)` while a car 150 m behind it starts from rest with an acceleration of `2ms^(-2)`. After how much time the car catches up with the scooter ?

A

`sqrt(700)s`

B

`sqrt(300)s`

C

`sqrt(150)s`

D

None of the above

The correct Answer is:
B

Let after time t, car catches the scooter and the distance travelled by scooter in time t
`x=(1)/(2)xx(1)xxt^(2)=(t^(2))/(2)` ….(i)
The distance travelled by car in time t
`x+150=(1)/(2)xx2xxt^(2)=t^(2)` ….(ii)
Solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get
`t=sqrt(300)s`
