In a `p-n` junction diode, change in temperature due to heating

A

does not affect resistance of p-n junction

B

affects only forward resistance

C

affects only reverse resistance

D

affects the overall V-I characteristics of p-n junction.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Due to increase in temperature because of heating, thermal collision between the electron and holes increases. Thus, net electron-hole pair increases.
This leads to increase in the current in diode and overall resistance of the diode changes.
This in turn changes both the forward biasing and the reverse biasing.
Thus, the overall I-V characteristics of p-n junction diode gets affected.
