Find the value of p, if mean of the following distribution is 7.5.

We prepare the following table to compute `p`.

We have, `sum f_(i)= 41 + p, sumf_(i)x_(i)=303 + 9p`
` therefore " Mean" = (sumf_(i)x_(i))/(sumf_(i))`
` rArr 7.5 = (303+9p)/(41+p) " [mean = 7.5 (given)]"`
`rArr 7.5 xx (41+p) = 303+9p`
`rArr 307.5 + 7.5p = 303+9p`
`rArr 9p-7.5p = 307.5-303`
`rArr 1.5p = 4.5`
`rArr p=3`
Hence, the value of p is 3.
