Show that the line joining the points `(2,-6)` and `(-4,-8)` is perpendicular to the line joining the points `(4,-2)` and `(6,-8)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Slope of line joining the points `(2,-6)` and `(-4,-8)` is
`m_(1)=(-8-(-6))/(-4-2)=(-2)/(-6)=(1)/(3)`
Slope of line joining the points `(4,-2)` and `(6,-8)` is
`m_(2)=(-8-(-2))/(6-4)=(-6)/(2)=-3`
Now `m_(1)*m_(2)=(1)/(3)(-3)=-1`
Therefore, given two lines are perpendicular to each other.
