Find the equation of a line passes through the points `(4,3)` and `(3,2)`. Also find the length of perpendicular from point `(-1,5)` to this line.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equation of a line passing through the points `(4,3)` and `(3,2)` is
`y-3=(2-3)/(3-4)(x-4)`
`impliesy-3=x-4`
`implies x-y-1=0`
Now, the length of perpendicular from `(-1,5)` to the line `x-y-1=0` is
`=|(-1-5-1)/(sqrt((1)^(2)+(-1)^(2)))|`
`=|(-7)/(sqrt(2))|=(7sqrt(2))/(2)` units
