The apparent frequency of a note when an observer moves towards a stationary source with a velocity 20 m/s in 200 Hz . Calculate the actual frequency of a note . Calculate wavelength if velocity of sound is 350 m/s .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know that apparent frequency `f. = f ((v + v_(0))/(v))`
i.e. `200 = f ((350 + 20)/(350))`
`therefore` actual frequency = `f = (200 xx 350)/(370)`
i.e. f = 189.19 Hz .
Wave length = `lambda = (v)/(f) = (350)/(189.19) = 1.85` m
