A parallel plate capacitor each with plate area A and separation ‘d’ is charged to a potential difference V. The battery used to charge it is then disconnected. A dielectric slab of thickness d and dielectric constant K is now placed between the plates. An electrochemical cell is a device in which the oxidation and reduction half rections are taking place separtely and the electrical energy is evloved as a result of the rection. In fact all redox reactions are of spontaneous nature and the free energy change (triangleG) is negative. This is vonverted in to the electrical energy. (i)Which electrode acts as negative pole? (ii) which electrode acts as positive pole? (iii) ho does curent flow in the elctrochemical cell?
