What are de-Brogli Waves ? How does the de-Broglie wavelength vary with momentum of moving particle ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Waves associated with material particles in motion are called matter waves. de Broglie equation is `lambda=h/(mv)` where `lambda` is the de Broglie wavelength, m is the mass and v is the velocity of the particle.
de-Broglie wavelength `lambda` is inversely proportional to the linear momentum of the particle.
i.e., `lambdaalpha 1/(MV)` where linear mmentum
p=mv
