Write the experimental observations of photoelectric effect.

Text Solution

1.The process of photoelectric emission is instantaneous .
2.The maximum K.E. of the photo electrons increases with the increase in the frequency of the incident light.
3. For a given metal and frequency of incident radiation , the no. of photo electrons ejected per second is directly proportional to the intensity of the incident light.
4.For a given metal , there exists a certain minimum frequency of the incident radiation below which no emission of photo-electrons takes place. This frequency is called threshold frequency .
5. For a given photosensitive material and frequency of incident radiation , saturation current is proportional to the intensity of the incident radiation but stopping potential is independent of its intensity .
