How does the huge ball `( 5.4 xx 10^(5) kg )` hanging on the `22^(nd)` floor of one of the world's tallest building ( chapter opening question mentioned in the introduction) counter the sway of the building?

The huge ball hangs from four cables and swings like a pendulum when the building ways. When the building ways-say, westward-the ball does also but delayed enough so that asif finally swings westward, the building is swaying eastward. So, the motion of the ball is out of step with the builiding motion, and thus counters it.

two tall building are situated 300 m apart . A ball is thrown horizontally from the window of 10^(th) floor of one building such that it lands in a windo of 3^(rd) floor of another nuilding. If the vertical distance between the corresponding floors of the building is 5m, find the velocity with which the ball must be thrown .

Below is a list of 10 tallest buildings in India. This list ranks buildings in India that stand at least 150m (492 ft.) tall, based on standard height measurement. This includes spires and architectural details but does not include antenna marks. Following data is given as per the available information till 2009. Since new buildings are always under construction, go on-line to check new taller buildings. Use the information given in the table about sky scrapers to answer the following questions: (a) Find the height of each storey of the three tallest buildings and write them in the following table: (b) The average height of one storey for the buildings given in (a) is (c) Which city in this list has the largest percentage of skyscrappers? What is the percentage? (d) What is the range of data? (e) Find the median of the data. (f) Draw a bar graph for given data.

Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question . Read both the statements and answer the questions. On which floor of the building does G stay ? ( the building has five floor 1,2,3,4,5.) I. Only the even-numbered floors are occupied and G does not stay on the second floor. II. G does not stary on an odd-numbered floor.

A person sitting on the top of a tall building is dropping balls at regular intervals of one second. Find the positions of the 3rd, 4th and 5th ball when the 6th ball is being dropped.

Many tall building have mass dampers, which are antisway devices to prevent them from oscillating in a wind. The device might be a block oscillating at the end of a spring and on a lubricated track. If the building sways, say eastward, the block also moves eastward but delayed enough so that when it finally moves, the building is then moving back westward. Thus, the motion of the oscillator is out of step with the motion of the building. Suppose the block has mass m= 2.72 xx 10^(5)kg and is designed to oscillate at frequency f= 10.0 Hz and with amplitude x_(m) = 20.0cm . What is the block's speed as it passes through the equilibrium point?

Directions: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions which follow: There are six people living on different floors in the same building having six floors numbered one to six (the ground floor is numbered 1, the floor above it, number 2 and so on and the topmost floor is numbered 6). Q lives just below the floor of R, whose age is 5 years. Only two people live between the floors on which Q and U live. The one whose age is 10 years lives below Q. The one whose age is 20 years lives on the topmost floor. S does not live on an odd-numbered floor. S lives on a floor between U and Q and his age is 15 years. U is 5 years elder than P. T does not live on the topmost floor. The one who lives just above T is 3 years elder than T. Q lives on an even-numbered floor but not on the 4th floor. Who amongst the following lives on floor number 5?
