If the length of a simple pendulum of a clock incrreases by `2%` how much loss or gain of second per day will take place ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`%` change is very less
So , `(DeltaT) /( T) = (1)/(2)(DeltaL)/(L)`
Here, T is time in second for the whole day` = 86400s`
Given `( DeltaL )/(L) = 2%= (2)/(100)`
`:. (DeltaT)/( 86400)= (1)/(2) xx ( 2)/( 100) `
`:. DeltaT = 864 s`
As length is increasing, the time period T will becomelarge and the clock will go slow, so it will lose 864 s.
