Calculate the area of the triangle for which two of its sides are given by the vectors
`vec(v) = 5 hat(i) - 3 hat(j) , vec(B) = 4 hat (i) + 6 hat(j)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given : `vec(A) = 5 hat(i) - 3 hat(j)`
`vec(B) = 4 hat(i) + 6 hat(j)`
Formula:
Area of the triangle `= (1)/(2) |vec(A) xx vec(B)|`
`= (1)/(2) |{:(5,4),(-3,6):}|`
`= (1)/(2) (30 - (-12)) = (42)/(2)`
= 21 square units .
