A car starting from rest covers a distance of 100 m in 5 second . Assuming his acceleration is uniform .
How much distance would he cover in the last second ?

Text Solution

Given date : Initial velocity
u = 0
Distance travelled
s = 100 m
time t = 5s
We know that
`s = ut +(1)/(2) at^(2)`
` 100 = 0 +(1)/(2) a xx 5^(2) = (25a)/(2)`
`:. a = (100 xx2)/( 25) = 8 m//s^(2)`
Distance covered in 5 second
= 100 m
Distance covered in 4 seconds
`s = u +(1)/(2) at^(2) = 0 +(1)/(2) xx 8 xx 4 xx4`
= 64 m
`:. ` Distance covered in the last second
= 100 - 64 = 36 m
