A scooterist moving with a speed of `36m kmh^(-1)` sees a child standing in the middle of the raod he applies the brakes and brings the scooter to rest in 5s just in time to saved child calculate the average retarding force on the vehicle if mass of the vehicle and drive is 300 kg

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Give `u= 30 kmh^(-1) = 36xx (5)/(18)`
` =10ms^(-1) , v=0 t = 5s`
`a= (v-u)/(t ) = (0-10)/(5 ) = -2 ms^(-2)`
Rectardation `=2ms^(-2)`
Average retarding force = mass `xx` relardation
`300 xx 2 = 600N`

A hydraulic system is used to lift a 2000 kg vehicle in an auto garage. If the vehicle sits on a piston of area 0.5 m^(2) , m, and a force is applied to a piston of area 0.03m^(2) , what is the minimum force that must be applied to lift the vehicle? Given: Area covered by the vehicle on the piston A_(1) = 0.5 m^(2) Weight of the vehicle , F_(1) = 2000 kg xx 9.8 m s^(-2) Area on which force F_(2) is aplied , A_(2) = 0.03 m^(2)

A monkey a mass 15 kg is climbing on a rope with one end fixed to the ceiling. If it whishes to go up with an acceleration of 1 m/s^2 , how much force should it apply to the rope? If the rope is 5 m long and the monkey starts from rest, how much time will it take to reach the ceiling?
