A projectile is thrown with a speed of `98 ms^(-1)` in a direction `30^(@)` above the horizontal . Find the time of flight , range and height to which it rises .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given :
Initial velocity ` = u = 98 ms^(-1)`
Time of flight ` = t (2 u sin theta)/(g) = ( 2 xx 98 sin 30^(@))/(9 . 8)`
`= (2 xx 98) / ( 9 . 8) xx (1)/(2) = 10 secs`
Range R ` = v_(x) xx t = u cos theta xx t`
` = 98 xx cos 30^(@) xx 10 = 848 . 7 m `
Maximum height ,
`h_("max") = (u^(2) sin^(2) theta)/(2g)`
` =((98)^(2) xx (sin 30)^(2))/( 2 xx 9 . 8) = 122. 5 m `
`h_("max") = 122.5m `
