A machine gun can fire 50g bullets with a velocity of `200 ms^(-1)` A 80 kg tiger springs at him with a velocity of `200 ms^(-1)` how many bullets must be fired in to the tiger in order to stop him in track

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mass of bullet
`m=50 xx 10^(3) kg`
Velocity of bullet
`v=200 ms^(-1)`
Velocity of tiger
`v=10 ms^(-1)`
Let the number of bullets required be n.
According to the law of conservation of momentum

`n xx mv = MV`
`n = (MV)/(mv )`
`=(80 xx 200)/(0.05 xx 200) = (16000)/(10)`
`=1600`
Number of bullets =1600
