How do insects run on the surface of water?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Water has a tendency to reduce its surface area. Surface of water behaves like a stretched membrane. So, when insects touch water, it can easily run over it. It can run even with greater speed due to less aggressive force between water and insects.
