Water in a closed tube (see fig) is heated with one arm vertically placed above a lamp. Water will begin to circulate along the tube in counter-clockwise direction.

On heating the liquid at `A` will become lighter and will rise up. This will push the liquid in the tube upwards and so the liquid in the tube will move clockwise i.e. form `B` to `A`.

A flat bottomed thin-walled glass tube has a diameter of 4 cm and it weights 30 g. the centre of gravity of the empty tube is 10 cm above the bottom, find the amount of water which must be poured into the tube so that when it is floating vertically in a tank of water, the centre of gravity of the tube and its contents is at the midpoint ot the immersed length of the tube.

An empty barometric tube 1 m long is lowered vertically (mouth downwards) into a tank of water. What will be the depth above the water level in the tube, when the water has risen 20 cm inside the tube ? Take atmospheric pressure as 10.4 m column of water.

A glass tube of circular cross section is closed at one end. This end is weighted and the tube floats vertically in water, heavy end down. How far below the water surface is the end of the tube? Given: outer radius of the tube is 0.14 cm , mass of weighted tube is 0.2 g , surface tension of water 73 dyn//cm and g = 980 cms^(-12) .

A long capillary tube of radius 1 mm, open at both ends is filled with water and placed vertically. What will be the height of water column left in the capillary ? (Surface tension of water is 73.5xx10^(-3)Nm^(-1))

The capillary tube is dipped in water vertically it is sufficiently long so that water rises to maximum height h in the tube te length of the portion immersed in water is lgth . The lower end of the tube is closed the tube is taken out and opened again then find length of the water column remaining in the tube.

A glass capillary tube of radius r is placed vertically touching the surface of water. The water rises to height h in capillary tube. If now the tube is dipped into water till only h/2 length of it is outside the water surface the , radius of curvature of the meniscus of water in capillary tube will be,
