For HCI, Molarity=Normality.
Let x mL be the maximum volume of 3M HCL that can be prepared by mixing 500 mL of 2MHCL solution and same volume of 5M HCI solution.
`M_(1)V_(1)+M_(2)V_(2)=M_(3)V_(3)`
`(2Mxx500mL)+(5MxxxmL)=3Mxx(500+x)mL`
(100+5x)=(1500+3x)
2x= 1500-1000=500orx=250mL
Thus , the maximum volume of 3M solution that can be prepared
=(500+250)=750 mL
