A solution of chloroform and acetone is an axemple of maximum boiling azeotrope. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

A sollution of chloroform and acetone is a non-ideal solution that shows nagative deviation from Raoult's Law. On account of hydrogen bonding, molecules of both the components have conparativvely less tendency to change to vapours. The vapour pressures of both the components decrease. It is therefore, an example of maxinmum boiling azeotrope.
