Why does compound (A) not form an oxime ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The compound (A) is pentaacetyl glucose or glucose pentaacetate. Oximes are given by the compounds which have a free carbonly group (aldehydic or ketonic group) present. Since the compound does not have such like group, it fails to react with hydroxylamine to form an oxime.
