Write the following about protein synthesis
(i) Name the location where protein synthesis occurs.
(ii) How do 64 codons code for only `20-alpha` amino acids ?
(iii) Which of the two bases of codon are most important for coding ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) Protein synthesis occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell
(ii) The 64 codons are 64 three letter words called triplets. Since there are only `20-alpha` amino acids, more than one codon can code for the same amino acid.
(iii) The first two bases of the codon are the most important for coding.
