Two particles A and B are in motion. If ...

Two particles A and B are in motion. If the wavelength associated with particle A is `5 xx 10^(-8)m`, calculate the wavelength associated with particle B if its momentum is half of A.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

we know,
`lambda = (h)/(p)`
`(lambda_(A))/(lambda_(B)) = (p_(B))/(p_(A))`.......1
`lambda_(A) = 5xx 10^(-8)m`,
`p_(B) = (1)/(2)p_(A)`, i.e., `p_(A) = 2p_(B)`
`:.` from eq (1)
`(5 xx 10^(-8))/(lambda_(B)) = (p_(B))/(2p_(B))`
`lambda_(B) = 10^(-7)m`
