The molecules of water have more energy ...

The molecules of water have more energy as compared to molecules of ice at same temperature. Justify this statement.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When ice is to melt, energy is abosrbed to overcome intermolecular forces of attraction. Since the intermolecular forces of attraction decrease, the kinetic energy of molecules in water is more than in ice.
