Based on the group valency of elements state the formula for the following giving justification for each :
(i) Oxides of 1st group elements,
(ii) Halides of the elements of group `13`,
(iii) Compounds formed when an element of group `2` combines with an element of group `16`.

(i) The valency of the group `1` elements is `1` and that of oxygen is `2`. Therefore, the formula of the oxides of the elements is `E_(2)O.`
(ii) The valency of group `13` elements is `3` and that of halogens is `1`. Therefore, the formula of the chlorides of the elements is `EX_(3).`
(iii) The valency of group `2` elements is `2` while that of the elements present in group `16` is also `2`. The formula of the compound formed is `E_(2)O_(2) or EO` (oxygen is the first member of group `16`).
