Examine elements of the third period : Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, Ar and answer the following :
(a) Choose (i) Metals and (ii) Non-Metals out of these elements. (b) On which side of the periodic table can we locate (i) Metals and (ii) Non-Metals ?
(c) Name the Metalloid out of the elements given above. Where are they located in the periodic table ?

(a) (i) Metals : Na, Mg, Al (ii) Non-metals : P, S, Cl, Ar
(b) Metals are generally present towards the left hand side while non-metals towards the right hand side of the periodic table.
(c) Silicon (Si) is a metalloid among the list of elements. The metalloids are present in between metals and non metals along zig-zag line in the modern periodic table.
