When a fair die is tossed, the number of possible outcomes are 1,2,3,4,5 and 6.
Sample space = {1,2,3,4,5,6}, n(S)=6
(i) Let A be the event which denotes ''a number less than 3 appears''
`A= {1,2}, n(A)=2,`
`P(A)=(n(A))/(n(S))=(2)/(6)=(1)/(3)`
(ii) Let E be the event which denotes ''a number greater than 3'' appears
`E= {4,5,6}, n(E)=3`
`P(E)=(n(E))/(n(S))=(3)/(6)=(1)/(2)`
(iii) Let B be the event which ''a number greater than or equal to 3'' appears.
`B= {3,4,5,6), n(B)=4`
`P(B)=(n(E))/(n(S))=(4)/(6)=(2)/(3)`
