Solve the following quadratic equations ...

Solve the following quadratic equations :
`x^(2)-(1+sqrt2)x+sqrt2=0`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given equation is
`x^(2)-(1+sqrt2)x+sqrt2)=0`
`impliesx^(2)-x-sqrt2x+sqrt2=0`
`impliesx(x-1)-sqrt2(x-1)=0`
`implies(x-1)(x-sqrt2)=0`
`impliesx-1=0orx-sqrt2=0`
when `x-1=0impliesx=1`
and `x-sqrt2=0impliesx=sqrt2`
: Hence, `1andsqrt2` are roots of the equation.
