Solve the following system of equations by using the method of elimination by equating the coefficients: `8x+5y=9,\ \ \ 3x+2y=4`

The given equations are 8x + 5y = 9 …(1)
and 3x + 2y = 4 ….(2)
Multiplying equation (1) by 2 and (2) by 5, we get
16x + 10y = 18 ….(3)
15x + 10y = 20 ….(4)
Subtracting equation (4) from (3), we get
x = - 2
Substituting x = - 2 in equation (1), we get
`8 xx (-2) + 5y = 9`
implies -16 + 5y = 9
implies 5y = 25
implies y = 5
Hence, the solution is `{:(x = -2),(y = 5):}}`
