The area of base of a cylinder is 616 cm...

The area of base of a cylinder is `616 cm^(2)` and height is 30 cm. Find its volume and total surface area.

Text Solution

Height of cylinder h = 30 cm
Let the radius of the cylinder = r cm
Now, the area of the base of the cylinder `=pi r^(2)`
`rArr pi r^(2)=616`
`rArr (22)/(7)xx r^(2)=616`
`rArr r^(2)=(616xx7)/(22)=28xx7-196`
`rArr r = 14 cm`
Now, volume of cylinder `=pi r^(2)h`
`=616xx30`
`=18480 cm^(3)`
and total surface area `=2pi r(h+r)`
`=2xx(22)/(7)xx14(30+14)`
`=3872 cm^(2)`
