Find the equation of the ellipse that sa...

Find the equation of the ellipse that satisfies the given conditions: Ends of major axis `(pm3,0)`, ends of minor axis `(0,pm2)`.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, the end points `(pm3,0)` of major axis are on x-axis and points `(0,pm2)` of minor axis are on y-axis.
`:.` a=3 and b=2
and equation of ellipse
`(x^(2))/(a^(2))+(y^(2))/(b^(2))=1`
`(x^(2))/(a^(2))+(3^(2))/(2^(2))=1rArr(x^(2))/(9)+(y^(2))/(4)=1`
